2025 Tournament Schedule
2008 Team
2009 Team
In terms of hockey development, we will work to improve the overall hockey skills of every player - our focus will be on these 3 areas: skating speed with the puck, body contact, and hockey decision making. Our goal as coaches is to create an environment where players who want to improve, will improve. If we are going to achieve and maintain this environment, the players will have to work hard, listen (be coachable), be a good teammate, and act appropriately - these 4 things are non-negotiable expectations for this team. Players will sit out, be asked to leave, be dismissed, or not invited back for not meeting these expectations. We will communicate concerns and feel free to reach out to me if you have any as well. I will always listen - I may not agree but I will listen.
While it is nice to win, that is not our focus. Our games and tournaments are times for players to transfer their skills to game situations, it gives us coaches an opportunity to teach the players about teamwork, hard work, focus, and hockey concepts. With that being said, in tournaments, if we believe that an adjustment(s) will give us a better chance to win - we will make whatever adjustments that we think will put us in the best position to win that tournament game.
If I could teach all hockey players one thing, it would be that there is a lot more to hockey than you (the individual) scoring a goal. Scoring a goal does not always mean you made a good play, it does not always mean you played a good game, it does not mean you are the best player - it just means you scored a goal. I am asking you all, as you and your family members communicate with your player, please do your best to focus on their attitude, effort, and "hockey" plays. In the 20+ years I have spent coaching hockey, the best players/teams are not focused on the score (or who scores), they focus on playing team hockey and "playing to the level they are capable of" each and every shift.
Thanks for choosing to be a part of the Lakeville Lumberjacks!
